I am having a little problem with unpacking images on PC. I have downloaded a few opk images to Psion II and it comes up with error: "Not recognised as valid opk file" Any advise will be much appreciated. Files are from Jaaps website. Raymond

Dear Raymond Just a couple of questions to help get started. Do you use PSI2WIN or CL as your server? Do you have a COM1 or COM2 Serial port on your PC? Did you use MAKE to get the OPK from your PC to the Organiser? Sincerely Martin

Hi Martin, thanks for getting back to me on this problem. I use Psi2win and Psi2backup and com 2. Did not use make as i though psi2backup restore did that. Not really sure on how to go about on all this but got some idea, been using org ii since 80s. Love it really but just got stuck on this part. Regards Raymond

Dear Raymond COM2 and PSIBackUp, should work fine. Now lets look at the OPK's. (1) (Jape) You can [Select OPK file] and create the pack in Jape and see if it works there. (2) (OPK Editor) You can load the OPK [Load Pack] into Jaaps OPK file editor, there you can examine the pack header and all the files on the pack and see if anything look amiss. If you post the names of the OPK's; I've never met Jaap but I'm sure he will be interested to see if they have become corrupt. Also others can download them and see if it works for them. Sincerely and in good faith Martin

Thank You Martin, I think I have sorted it. I have tried a couple of images and I found that if I do MAKE from the CMD prompt it seems to work. Going to have a try again later if I get chance. Thank You so much for your help. Regards Raymond

Raymond, I use the developer tool running in DosBox and find that to be a solid solution on a 64bit platform. Run the CL.EXE application first to open communication with the Psion and then do the MAKE. Sometimes it is necessary to use the '-a' (append) switch, but I've not looked into why this is the case. Good luck, let us know how you get on. Regards, Dave.
