Title: SD card instead of datapack.
Post by Nick Kostelidis on Dec 16th, 2018, 2:23pm
Hi all.
Has anyone thought the possibility to save data files in an sd card instead of datapak with psion II?
That's an idea for olivier.

Dear Nick

Can I suggest you give one of Olivier's 256k RamPak's a go. It is big enough to hold your program pack and all your data. It is safe if your organiser loses power. You can read and write data to it, it's affordable and along with a microUSB powered comms link makes the Organiser truly portable.

Sincerely and in good faith
Martin

Hello Martin.
Last week I got two 512kb flash datapaks.
It's the first time I can have all my Psion software in one pak.
I also have 32k 64k and 128k rampaks.
In one 64k rampak I can store a data file with about 1250 records.
This is enough for one or two days work on the field.
Also in an 128k rampage I can store about 2500 records.
I avoid to use 128k ram page because after 300 records, data recording
process becomes slow.
I suppose that if we could use an sd card we could have a fast recording process and save much more data files.
In any case it is just an idea like the one of wireless communication.
Best regards to all.
Nick.

Hi Nick,

It's possible, with MCU like AVR (arduino). The slot interface is slow.
But it's a lot of development time.

Thanks
Olivier
