Dear All

Anyone got any idea what's going on with the Comms Port on this Organiser II XP video? You can see clearly at 10:00 minutes a second round port anyone know what it's for?

There is an RS Components stock code (RS 620856) mentioned at 11:48.

Watching with interest

Looks like an electret mic to me... but I could be wrong. It's the right size, roughly, and I don't see any "holes" for pins to go into it, just a black "something" there, leaving an inconsistent silver edge. Those mics are usually coated in a bit of (imprecisely cut) black fuzz, so that's an extremely good possibility as to what it is.

Didn't check the part number with RS Components tho; I'll let someone else do that.

It seems to be a hole in the case that someone cut out in order to do some home-made tinkering. When he slides open the top slot, the slider closes up the hole so you can't see anything unfortunately. I think it is likely that the tinkering is also why the contrast wheel does not work, and maybe the hole was for wires that connect something to the contrast wheel.

Edit: Or maybe it was built into a system similar to the Mark III Copier:

The contrast wheel becomes inaccessible so essentially has to be relocated to the larger system via some wires going through a hole in the Psion case.
