How do I install programs?

It depends in what form you have received the program.
  • Source code (*.OPL)
  • Complied program (*.OB3)
  • Pack image (*.OPK)
Most programs that you can download from this site come as source code, some have installation instructions you should follow.
Some programs need additional procedures, therefore you need to upload (and compile) all OPL/OB3 files that were in the package.

    Installing from source code
    • Attach the CommsLink and start Psi2Win
    • Place the file into the folder Psi2Win uses for file transfer (or change this folder to the one your file is in)
    • On the organiser, select COMMS in the main menu (if it is not there, press EXE, it will be inserted as second last entry)
    • Select RECEIVE > PROCEDURE and type the file name (without extension). If yo want to change the target location, press the MODE key to change the pack.
    •  press EXE twice to start the file transfer.
    • The program is now on the organiser, but it must be compiled before it can be used.
    • Go back to the main menu by pressing CLEAR a few times.
    • Select PROG > EDIT and type the file name (on model LZ you can also press the down arrow to select the file from a list).
    • Press EXE and you will see the source code.
    • Press MODE, then press EXE twice to compile and save the program. Unless you get an error mesasage (too bad!) the program is now ready to use.
    • You can start the program with RUN in the PROG menu, or you may enter it into the main menu (see below).

    Installing a compiled program
    • Attach the CommsLink and start Psi2Win
    • Place the file into the folder Psi2Win uses for file transfer (or change this folder to the one your file is in)
    • On the organiser, select CALC (yes, the calculator)
    • Type the text below, where filename is replaced with the actual filename without extension. Dont miss the quotes! If you would like to upload the program to a pack, replace A: with B: od C:.
                XTRECV:("filename","A:filename",INT(3))
    • The file is uploaded and can be used right away by using PROG > RUN or by inserting it into the main menu.

    Installing a pack image
    • You need a pack that has at least the same capacity as the size of the file. If you use a datapack, it must be formatted and fresh (i.e. it has not been entered into the organiser after formatting). Note that all data will be erased from the pack.
    • Attach the CommsLink. Since blowing a pack (except for RAMpacks) uses much battery, you should also connect an external power supply.
    • Start Psi2backup, select the Restore-Tab
    • Choose the file to upload and press the Start button
    • Follow the instructions on the screen
    • Read the program description on how to run the program(s) on the pack. Some packs automatically enter menu items to the main men once you have pressed EXE in the main menu.
    • If you don't have instructions, you will need to use the PROG menu to inspect the pack. Finding the start procedure is a means of trial and error in this case.

Adding a program to the main menu
    • Use the arrow keys to move to the position in the main menu to insert the program.
    • Press MODE and type the file name of the program (without pack letter).
    • Press EXE
