What hardware peripherals were available for the Series II?
Apart from the different Packs described here, the most important hardware is the Comms Link which is an RS232 serial communications link that allows the organiser to be connected to a PC, or any standard hardware device.
There were many other things made for the organiser to make it more useful in the workplace. These included a mains adapter, a barcode reader, a swipe card reader, a printer and a pager device, all made by Psion themselves.
Third party hardware included everything from a parallel link to global positioning systems and ultrasonic distance measurement devices.

Not directly, but I have successfully used a Garmin GPS with the CommsLink. I have switchted the Garmin to the 'simple prototocol' and have been logging the plain text data that is sent every half second. I used a standard cable but don't remember if was a modem or null-modem cable.

I am very interested in the GPS thread.  I am on the water at the moment and have been toying with the idea of using the Psion LZ with the GPS but have not got round to it yet.  What I am looking at would be a repeater for the GPS in the Psion, dowmloading and uploading data as necessary.  I already use the Psion via my laptop to upload data but have not yet tried direct, watch this space!!
