See General: Oxford Spelling Checker - is it a plain Datapack?

I hope I haven't missed the answer to this anywhere, and I realise it may be obvious once I find my comms lead, but having got a pack image what do I have to do to use it? Is it just a case of copying it to a datapac and using the filename to invoke it?

To make datapaks into program packs, using images, you will need the Psion Developer suite of software for the PC.  It is DOS.

This software (MAKE.EXE) uses the Psion Comms Link to transfer the image to the Datapak.  You can get this from the Developer Vault; http://archive.psion2.org/org2/dev_files

There is a program called AMAKE (well, switches for make in a batch file..), but if you aren't sure, it might be best to stick to simple.  In which case, the rule is that the pack to be MAKEd must be blank and UNFORMATTED.  So UV erase it, but DO NOT FIT IT TO THE ORGANISER YET.  Wait until prompted by MAKE.

Look at http://archive.psion2.org/org2/devman.htm and it shhould all be clear.

Either run your Org2 from a power supply, or fit fresh batteries, before starting this - the operation will be using the most power that an Org2 ever draws when writing datapacks and running Comms Link.  If an image write fails, you have to erase and start over.  Rampacks avoid a lot of this hassle, because they simply offer to clear themselves when you MAKE anyway.  Besides, if you are just trying these apps out, you'll probably want to avoid making 17 actual packs...

As many people seem to have problems using a DOS-box, I have written a wrapper for MAKE & UNMAKE:
    Psi2Backup
This makes it really easy to produce or upload pack images....

Is it possible for someone
1. to make brief description of provided images?
something like:
ImageName     Pack(Prog)Name     Description
autoscribe      AutoScribe Plus      Word Processor for the Org II
2. to modify first post with that additional data?
I think it will be very useful.
And possibly q#2 is only for admins.

The person who makes the post is supposed to do that, but we can't really enforce it.

To anyone considering a post, I'd suggest that you always give a useful description of what you are uploading - after all, you want others to download it, so it is in your own interest to do so.

As for modifying other people's posts, we would rather not make that imposition, unless someone breaks the T.O.S. of this forum.

Downloaded your zip containing the image files thank you.  However, when trying to unpack them some contain no image, e:g fnkey.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Steve
