Hello All,
I have some awful news for you.
Boris Cornet died on the 20th September 2012.
He suffered a heart attack on his way back from visiting a confluence in India,
A member of his family sent me an internal mail from his account on 26 October.
I was asked if I would take over the website - which I'm happy to do.
I read that message on 6th December and replied, but the family member has not responded.
The forum is now in very real danger of going offline, as I cannot arrange with the hosting company to gain access to it.
I have tried to reach both them and the family - in vain.
We can only hope there will be a response from Boris' account on this forum.

If need be I have space on my server that I could host everything on.
I would need to set up a forum board etc. and download all the pages, files etc.

I think we can all relax.
I have managed to contact the family, but it will be some time (middle of this year) before things move in any way - if they do at all, as far as this forum is concerned.
In the meantime, hosting has been paid - I think from September, or October for one year.
What would make perfect sense for me is to ask the hosting company to let me take over the payments and just continue as before. This board and this site isn't so straightforward, so maybe it's best to apply the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" logic - certainly for now.
I'll know more details when the family have dealt with various current issues.

That's good news, I know it would be a huge task to transfer to another host, I had to do that with a site I run and I already had all the files laid out on my HDD but it still took a couple of months to track down all the absolute links and alter them.

I'm sorry I didn't see this till now. I'm sorrier to hear the news. Sounds like he was a pretty big dude around here -- a shame to see him go.
My uncle died of a heart attack three years ago. There are, I'm told, two kinds -- the ones that kill you instantly, and the ones that don't. I'm thankful that my uncle had the kinder (IMO) first kind, and did not spend much time in transition to the Great Unknown.
I hope Boris had the same, honestly -- the minutes, even hours, of doctors trying to keep you here, only to fail, having postponed the inevitable... that's Hell, to me.
But... what do I know.

RIP Boris.
I posted a couple of items last year, just to show interest and to feel part of the forum. Boris responded with a mine of unsolicited help and even mailed me some fantastic stuff. Personally, I shall miss him loads.
